Grandfather Mountain
Grandfather Mountain is the highest peak in the Blue Ridge mountain range and a globally recognized nature preserve. Stand head and shoulders above the surrounding region, be awe struck by 360-degree views of mountain ridge after mountain ridge retreating to the horizon, and discover sanctuary for the human spirit. (If it hadn't been raining... this is where I had planned on proposing!)

Blue Ridge Parkway
Outstanding scenery and recreational opportunities make the Blue Ridge Parkway one of the most popular units of the National Park System. "America's Favorite Drive" winds its way 469 miles through mountain meadows and past seemingly endless vistas. Split-rail fences, old farmsteads and historic structures complement spectacular views of distant mountains and neighboring valleys.

The Blowing Rock
The Blowing Rock, North Carolina's oldest travel attraction since 1933, is an immense cliff 4,000 feet above sea level overhanging Johns River Gorge 3,000 feet below. Open all year weather permitting in Blowing Rock, North Carolina.

Town of Blowing Rock
Blowing Rock, North Carolina is the place to escape from it all. Cooler temperatures, exquisite landscapes, a storybook village, shopping, hiking, skiing, arts, festivals, attractions and so much more. Come any season and bring your special someone or your whole family. It's an easy drive now that Hwy. 321 and Hwy. 421 have been widened to four lanes.

Linville Caverns
Experience the beauty of a natural limestone cavern. Encounter a sleeping bat, or view a spider in hibernation. Stroll beside an underground stream, a home to native trout. Peer into the seemingly endless depths of our bottomless pool. Enjoy the constant 52 degree temperature. Remember your visit for years to come! Your underground adventure awaits... at North Carolina's only caverns!

Mast General Store
Nestled in a secluded mountain valley, you'll discover spectacular foliage, rustic countryside and a place Charles Kuralt calls, "... a destination." That place is the Mast General Store in the rural historic district of Valle Crucis. Since 1883, we've been outfitting the Appalachians with traditional mercantile goods, comfortable clothing, rugged footwear and quality outdoor gear for all mountain seasons. When in the North Carolina High Country, we invite you to warm up by our potbellied stove, mail a letter at our antique post office and discover for yourself why...some times are just too good to leave behind.

Tweetsie Railroad
Tweetsie is more than a train. It's an institution, a tradition and a legend. Mention the name "Tweetsie" throughout the South and it conjures up memories for all age groups. For children, it means a trip back into the Wild West, helping the US Marshal fight off howling renegades and would-be train robbers. It also means music and entertainment, exciting Country Fair rides and arcades, and lots of good things to eat.
